Back in August, the body of Juan Manuel Fangio was exhumed to test his DNA for a paternity test and the results are in: the late F1 champion has an Argentinian son.
Oscar Espinoza, 77, was one of two men who submitted a paternity claim about Fangio being his father, the other being Ruben Vazquez. The late F1 champion’s relation to Espionza was confirmed by local judge Rodrigo Cataldo.
Prior to this revelation, Fangio, one of the world’s greatest race drivers with cars he’s competed in selling for millions, had never recognized a child nor was ever married.
However, he did have a relationship with Andrea Berruet, the mother of Oscar Espionza. Immediately after hearing the DNA results, Espionza said that he intends of changing his surname to Fangio.
“Just think that, in the next elections, for the first time, I’m going to be able to vote with the Fangio surname”, he told local reporters.
As for Ruben Vazquez, the second man who claims the racing legend had an affair with his mother and is in fact his father, his case is still ongoing in a court in Buenos Aires.
