The newest rear-wheel drive beast from Sant’Agata Bolognese is the Huracan LP 580-2, officially revealed last month at the 2015 LA Auto Show.

Since then, we had the chance to see it on several occasions, including the first review from EVO. Now, the tail-happy Lambo returns to our screens, as Steve Sutcliffe put it to the test, trying to figure out if it has what it needs in order to be called a worthy successor of the Gallardo LP 550-2.

Lamborghini has graced the RWD Huracan with a de-tuned version of the 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine used on the LP 610-4, rated at 580PS (572hp) and 540Nm (398lb-ft) of torque. In its new configuration, the supercar needs 3.4 seconds to reach 100km/h (62mph) from a standstill, 0.2 second slower than the four-wheel drive model, and top speed has lowered by 5km/h (3mph) to 320km/h (199mph).

Despite losing 30PS (30hp) compared to its four-wheel drive brethren, no one really cares as the idea of driving or even owning a rear-wheel Lamborghini is something that dreams are made of. But is it really that good as the Italian-based automaker says? Well, why don’t we let Mr. Sutcliffe tell us.
