Smart is the world’s first automaker to combine an online store for new vehicles with a virtual showroom. This allows customers to buy the smallest model in Mercedes-Benz Cars’ portfolio from the internet, 24 hours a day, and to have it delivered straight to their door, as the company addresses young and “internet-savvy customers”.
“Young people in particular expect an innovative brand like Smart to be accessible everywhere and at any time. That’s exactly what Smart offers, because our customers can conveniently order a smart online at any time of day and no matter where they are, and they can then have it delivered to their home“, said company CEO Dr. Annette Winkler.
Italy, its second-largest market, has been chosen for the debut of the online store, and its introduction will kick off with an edition of the new ForTwo and ForFour called the “Red & The City”. The automaker offers pre-configured cars of this edition, in order to make the selection and purchase process convenient and quick. Both cars can be paid by credit card, bank transfer or even financed.
The online store is linked with a virtual showroom, allowing custumers to view the car from different perspectives. After a date will be set, experience personnel will be available for help and, if a customer books an expert, then he / she will be virtually placed in the car with camera glasses and have all of the model’s functions explained to them.
Customers can also ask questions on the product by live chat or e-mail and, during the complete purchase and delivery process, telephone help becomes available too.
The online store and virtual showroom represent Smart’s next step after last spring, the automaker informed 600 million people in China on a special edition model, on the local equivalent of WhatsApp, WeChat. Within three minutes, 388 cars were sold…
