Just a day after Jaguar presented its F-Sleigh ice sculpture, Ford followed with a similar creation, only this one won’t melt if exposed to “normal” temperatures.
The weird-looking sleigh came to life at the company’s Cologne facility, in Germany, and it was created using two red Fiesta car bodies, which would have been scrapped eventually, taken by the head of maintenance from the paint shop.
The body of the supermini was converted in the Kaizen workshop, with support of trainees who chopped the roof, added a Christmas tree, various decorations and even two (fake) reindeer.
“First of all we cut off the roof and then we added edge protection. Snow foam, Christmas stars, bells, a Christmas tree and two reindeer transformed the car body into an original Santa mobile“, said Ridvan Guri.
While the Ford Fiesta transformed into a sleigh was carried on a journey across the production lines, employees on all three shifts and those from logistics and quality departments received a chocolate Santa Claus, “to express some recognition“, as the head of vehicle production from the German facility, Vic Daenen, explained.
This isn’t the first time that Ford tries its luck at creating a Santa sleigh, as back in December 2011, the company came up with a concept that looked better, with a front fascia inspired by the new Mondeo / Fusion and plenty of technology.
