A racing version of the Toyota S-FR Concept has been unveiled by the Japanese-based automaker and it will debut next month at the 2016 Tokyo Auto Salon.
It is based on the concept that was shown earlier this year, only now it sports a white paintjob, a more aggressive body with an updated grille, redesigned front bumper with an apron, a vented hood, extended fenders housing black-finished alloys, new side skirts and a lowered suspension. The rear end features a massive wing and a large diffuser incorporating the center-mounted exhaust pipe.
Toyota says the S-FR Racing is 110 mm longer, 40 mm wider and with a 50 mm lower height than the quite compact (3,990 mm long, 1,695 mm wide and 1,320 mm tall) first concept, but retains the same 2,480 mm wheelbase. There’s no word on its weight, but since it uses carbon fiber reinforced plastic, it’s safe to assume that it’s lighter.
The automaker keeps its engine a secret, but a possible production version, which will slot below the GT 86, is rumored to be powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter rated at 130hp or a turbocharged 1.2-liter with 114hp.
More details on the new S-FR Concept should be released during the Japanese show where the one-off will be on display during January 15-17. The show will also see the debut of the updated the Voxy G and the Noah Gsporty minivan concepts.
