Toyota celebrates their millionth hybrid model sold in Europe, with the lucky German customer receiving as a bonus a second Auris Hybrid for free.
When Victor Dugonics from Germany went to his Dusseldorf dealership to take delivery of his brand new Toyota Auris Hybrid, he was in for a surprise as the company offered his wife a second Auris Hybrid for one year, free of charge.
“The Auris is the best proof of the success of Toyota’s hybrid drive: more than half of all Auris models sold in Western Europe are equipped with our efficient combination of an electric motor and petrol engine, and the trend is growing”, said Tom Fux, President of Toyota Deutschland.
Toyota and Lexus have sold more than eight million hybrid models worldwide since the launch of the original Prius in 1997. Hybrid sales already account for 23 per cent of Toyota Europe’s total yearly sales, with 14 hybrid models offered in the European market.
It will add a new model to the existing hybrid line-up with the introduction of the RAV4 Hybrid in January next year while a hybrid version of the production version of the CH-R crossover concept is already being developed.
In spite of already having the widest hybrid range on a global scale, the Japanese automaker promises they will introduce a hybrid model in every segment by 2020.
