At last month’s Essen Motor Show 2015, an industrial designer by the name of Joe Harmon unveiled his insane wooden supercar appropriately dubbed the Splinter.

The car is a strict one-off and takes design inspiration from the Havilland Mosquito airplane, used around World World II. The bodywork is made up from woven cherry skins, an end-grain balsa core and then laminated wooden veneers to give it a sleek and expensive look.

While the car will never reach the production line, Harmon was present at Essen to show it off to some very curious onlookers.

Displayed up close in the video below, the unique design of the Splinter is undeniable and impressively, it is actually functional thanks to its utilization of a mid-mpunted, aluminium 7.0-litre V8 engine delivering 600 hp.
