Volvo is currently discussing the potential of opening a special bespoke service providing a selection of new personalisation choices for its customers.
While speaking with Autocar recently, the Swedish automaker said that demand from its high-end buyers looking to customise their vehicles has increased, particularly after the launch and popularity of the brand new Volvo XC90 First Edition which swiftly sold out.
Discussing the potential bespoke division, Volvo UK’s head of products Iain Howat said “Work is ongoing to see what opportunities are there. If we do something, it would be more along the lines of what they do with the Range Rover Autobiography. But we have to get the basics of our range right before we start playing.”
If Volvo does indeed launch such a service, it remains unclear if it would extend to all of the marque’s models or simply be offered for its high-end models, most notably the XC90 and the brand new S90 sedan.
Whatever the case may be, a personalisation division for Volvo would bring it in line with offerings from other automakers like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover/Range Rover and even the likes of Bentley, Rolls-Royce, McLaren and Lamborghini.
