In case you missed Nissan’s previous Altima commercial, it was about making people feel special and recognizing that “something special” in each other, while driving by.
This time, the idea behind the commercial is a bit difficult to comprehend. It’s basically a man on a mission to buy an engagement ring, though looking a lot like some type of spy/secret agent.
But nonsense aside, this is Nissan trying to showcase the 2016 Altima as being more than simply a run of the mill mid-size saloon. Speaking of this segment, choices include the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Kia Optima and the VW Passat.
However, Nissan does offer a competent proposal with the Altima, especially gadget-wise. You get all the modern-day safety gear you need from a non-premium model – such as collision warning, blind spot detection, emergency braking, intelligent cruise control, rear cross traffic alert and so on, plus a 270 HP V6 engine if you go for the top-spec 3.5-liter SR or SL version.
Anything under that will mean settling for a 182 HP 2.5-liter unit, which should get the job done just fine. With a starting price of $22,500, it’s not like you can ask for “a lot more car” for your money.
Just make sure you channel your inner Ryan Gosling if you end up with a similar-spec’d car as the one in the footage. Otherwise, picking up engagement rings won’t be nearly as cool as Nissan would have you believe.
