KIA has been working on the next generation of their Picanto city car, with our spies catching them in the act.
The heavy cladding doesn’t let us see what’s changed on the exterior but we do know that the new Picanto will have an all-new, modern design. The only visible clue right now is the LED lights all-around and the absence of the current generation’s side lines which gives it a cleaner, albeit less dynamic look.
No news yet on which engines will power the new Korean city car but we expect the company to use an updated version of the efficient Euro6-compliant 1.0-litre petrol engine used in the current model.
KIA has also recently installed their new turbocharged 1.0-litre T-GDI petrol engine in the Cee’d with the promise of using it in more models. The idea of a Picanto pocket rocket sounds extremely intriguing but at this point we are just speculating here.
The new generation of the KIA Picanto city car is expected to debut in 2017.
