The range of options for the Caterham Seven 620 has just been increased, offering customers further range for customization of the company’s fastest ever road model.
The newly named Seven 620S joins the track-focused 620R in the line up, but offers more creature comforts for the US-compliant sports car.
For starters, the Seven 620S can be ordered with the S5 chassis, which is both wider and longer than the standard S3 chassis underpinning the sports car.
Caterham claims that this chassis is better suited to “more generously-proportioned customers” while also providing additional interior and luggage space. A larger fuel tank is also installed with the S5 chassis, therefore extending the 620’s range.
Beyond the option of the wide-bodied chassis, the ‘S’ pack has been added to the 620. Already available across the marque’s range, it includes a heater, leather seats, hood and side screens as well as a full windscreen. Additionally, it includes new springs and dampers more suitable for street use, a custom limited-slip differential and a new brake master cylinder.
Further differentiating the 620S from the 620R are larger 15-inch wheels with street-oriented tyres.
Discussing the car, Caterham Cars CEO Graham Macdonald said: “When we launched the 620R, we knew that we were unleashing a beast upon the world. It’s never been one for the fainthearted and should really come with its own health warning.
“But we are, of course, sensitive also to those customers who want the ridiculous performance stats without having to worry about donning race overalls to access them. The new options mean that customers who want the best of both worlds can have exactly that, whether their aim is to pound around the race tracks of the UK or take a Sunday drive, albeit a deliriously exciting one.”
