Hot on the heels of unveiling the brand new DS 3 and the DS Performance sub-brand, the Citroen-owned automaker has confirmed that a range of other high-performance models are in the works.
Talking to Auto Express, DS’s vice president of product development Eric Apode said that more performance variants are being developed, though he wouldn’t budge on just what models will receive these hotted-up versions.
The first new performance model is expected to be based around the recently-launched DS4. Most likely, it could use the same 1.6-liter petrol engine as the Peugeot 308 GTI, though in an unknown state of tune.
Further down the line there’s a chance that a new two-door coupe will be created by DS and it too could receive a faster and more “hardcore” derivative.
Apode revealed that the models from DS Performance won’t be track-tuned monsters, but retain the comfort required of a DS model.
“In the future we will see performance increase but still with the comfort of a DS car. Part of DS’s brand identity is ease of use and everyday comfort, so these cars won’t be stripped-out. They are not track cars”, he said.
