Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, known best to us as Luke Hobbs in The Fast and the Furious franchise and being unable to fit in a LaFerrari, has just announced he will help develop a new television show.
Dubbed ‘Boost Unit’, it will bring together the car world of F&F with a real-life street unit of the LAPD.
The show is being developed by Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions as well as 20th Century Fox and Imperative Entertainment.
It isn’t yet known if Johnson will also act in the show but the series is being described as a mix between Fast and Furious and Rescue Me. The police unit described in the show will be based in a Los Angeles warehouse where the officers operate solely undercover and in their own cars. It will specially focus on car crimes but also look at terrorism, bomb threats, thefts and drug trafficking.
Johnson said “We’re bringing to life the high-stakes street pursuits and grueling work of this very specialized elite task force and we’re excited to partner with Imperative Entertainment to combine an epic mix of gripping action and sophisticated storytelling.”
