Based on the QX30 Concept and unveiled a couple of months ago, the production QX30 is getting ready for the Canadian market, after a local presentation at the Montreal Auto Show.
Infiniti’s new addition and its first entry in the compact luxury segment boasts a purposeful appearance and has a sculpted exterior and an asymmetric cabin design, revealing very little from things shared with the Mercedes-Benz GLA.
Since the QX60 is the top seller in the company’s Canadian lineup, its smaller brother is believed to quickly become a preferred choice: “The Infiniti QX30 will compete in the rapidly-growing Small Luxury SUV segment that has tripled in size in the last two years, and Quebecers account for more than 25 per cent of the sales in this growing segment“, stated Infiniti Canada’s managing director, Stephen Lester.
Canada and US versions of the Infiniti QX30 are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, producing 208hp (211PS) and connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Customers will be able to choose between the QX30, sold in Europe and other regions outside the US under the Q30 name, in FWD, the sportier QX30 S, with its aggressive front and rear fascia, cross-drilled brakes and 19-inch wheels, and the QX30 AWD that uses an intelligent AWD system and brings off-road inspired front and rear valence panels and a slightly increased ride height.
Pricing has yet to be released.
