To help celebrate its 90th anniversary, famed Italian coach builder Touring Superleggera will unveil a brand new sports car at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

No details about the new Touring Superleggera have been offered but GTspirit reports it will be the coach builder’s first bespoke, open top sports car since the Fiat 124 Cabriolet Concept of 1964.

In recent times, the company has created the limited-run Ferrari F12 Berlinetta-based Touring Berlinetta Lusso as well as the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante. When the firm isn’t designing and building its own models, it works with recognized automakers and in the past, has designed cars like the Ferrari 166MM and Alfa Romeo 8C.

In all likelihood, Touring Superleggera’s new droptop will be based around an existing convertible, likely of Italian origin. We can then expect to see totally overhauled interior and exterior designs that are unmistakably Italian.

It isn’t yet known if the car will be a concept model or if Touring intends on putting it into series production. Whatever the case may be, we expect more information about the model in the coming weeks.
