For prospective Jeep owners, a new model has just arrived, combining the affordability of the entry-level Cherokee with some of the luxuries of the bigger Grand Cherokee Overland or Summit.
That new model is the Cherokee Overland and will set customers back at least $35,690 including destination charge. For their money, customers will get both interior and exterior changes as well as a number of new optional extras.
Starting with the exterior, the Cherokee Overland comes with body-colored trim rather than the black plastic ones typically adorning the Cherokee. Elsewhere, new chrome trim is featured around the upper and lower front grilles, while the headlights are now bi-xenon instead of halogen. Completing the visual changes are a set of polished 18-inch wheels.
Inside, there are new seats wrapped in Nappa leather with heating and ventilation functions, Zebrano wood trim on the steering wheel, a leather-wrapped instrument panel and the 8.4-inch Uconnect system with navigation. Final interior upgrades include an Alpine Premium system, cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring.
The Cherokee Overland is powered by the 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 that puts out 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. The latest Active Drive II 4×4 system, which allows the driver to disconnect the rear differential and use only front-wheel drive to help improve fuel efficiency also comes as standard.
