Previously known as Manor F1 or Manor-Marussia in Formula 1 circles, the team has now announced that their official name for 2016 will be Manor Racing.
The F1 squad also confirmed its rebranding by revealing a new logo on twitter, which is basically a black & white striped letter ‘M’. If you look close enough, you can also make out an ‘N’ and ‘A’ within the ‘M’, which may be just coincidence or completely intentional.
Further details will arrive on February 22 when we’ll also be shown the 2016 car as well as the final livery on the first day of winter testing at the Circuit de Catalunya.
Until then, we can speculate that the car might have a black & white theme, to go with the team’s new logo – and if so, then it might look somewhat similar (at least color-wise) to the extremely popular CamoBull from last year’s winter tests.
For the 2016 season, Manor Racing’s cars will be powered by Mercedes engines, have Williams-supplied drivetrains, and will feature brand new chassis.
It will be interesting to see if the team can make a big leap compared to this year. Who knows, they might jump right over Sauber and newcomers Haas, and battle it out with McLaren-Honda and Toro Rosso.
