Besides pulling the wraps off the interior of the new E-Class generation live in a premiere, Mercedes-Benz has also brought its impressive IAA Concept to the CES 2016.

The Las Vegas Event marks the US debut for the company’s futuristic-looking study, after its 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show unveiling, as the model embodies two cars in one, a four-door coupe and an aerodynamic world record breaker, with a drag coefficient of 0.19.

The true shape-shifter can modify its body at speeds over 80km/h (50mph), thanks to the extendable flaps in the front bumper and the eight segments at the rear, which improve airflow. The wheels may look “cool”, but they can change their cupping from 50mm (1.97in) to zero, contributing to vehicle’s improved aerodynamics furthermore.

Mercedes-Benz’ Concept Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile provides a glimpse of the further development of the User Experience Design and the User Interface and, for the first time in the industry, it brings graphics and animations on a par with “the quality of Hollywood films into the car“.

This happens thanks to a leading creative software developer for film and video production, The Foundy, and the newest NVIDIA DRIVE automotive visual computing platform, that help the automaker show 3D renderings in real time, resulting in “a visual experience like in the cinema“, which can be tested live by visitors of the three-pointed star’s CES exhibition.
