Fresh images of Fiat’s Toro compact truck have emerged following its introduction in Brazil where it will go on sale in late February.

Positioned above Fiat’s Strada and Renault’s Duster Oroch, the 4.91 meters long Italian pickup truck comes with four doors and a barn door-style split-tailgate offering a choice of two powertrains, a 140hp 1.8-liter flex-fuel or a 170hp 2.0-liter Multijet diesel.

Both units are believed to be (eventually) available with six-speed manual transmissions, with the 1.8L bi-fuel to also offer a six-speed automatic and the 2.0L diesel, a nine-speed auto, with the latter combined exclusively with all-wheel drive.

Fiat hasn’t released pricing yet, but Brazilian media are speculating that the Toro will start from around 70,000 BRL (about $17,50 at today’s rates) for the entry level ‘Freedom’ trim that’s available for both engines, climbing up to 115,000 BRL (equal to $28,000), for the range-topping ‘Volcano’ offered only with the diesel mill.
