The current Honda Odyssey is about to be replaced, but before the fifth generation will roll off the assembly line, the best way to take a look at it is through these alleged patent images.
The photos were reportedly published by Japan’s patent office and they reveal the popular MPV in the US-spec, giving us a first glimpse of the upcoming model.
Its design looks similar to the Honda Concept M that was shown in 2013 at the Shanghai Auto Show. Naturally, it’s a toned-down version with different lighting units, what seem to be production-ready bumpers, larger side mirrors and different door handles.
Reports indicate towards a 2017 unveil of the fifth-gen Odyssey, that will be powered by a Pilot-borrowed 3.5-liter V6 connected to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. An AWD variant is said to be on the cards, too.
Honda’s new MPV is already available in many Asian markets since 2013. Based on the Japan-spec model, it features a 2.4-liter DOHC i-VTEC four-pot engine with 175PS (173hp) and 225Nm (166lb-ft) of torque coupled to a CVT transmission.
