To most, Patrick Dempsey is known as a successful actor playing, until recently, the leading role in hit-series Grey’s Anatomy.
To automotive enthusiasts however, he is also known as an accomplished racing car driver who has competed in some of the world’s most famous races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Daytona 24.
Currently, Dempsey races a Porsche 911 RSR in the GTE AM class through his own team, Dempsey Racing and Proton. This year, he finished the FIA World Endurance Championship sixth in the GTE AM class and second at the 24 Hours of Le Mans after 4th, 5th and 9th in his previous attempts.
Given his success, it’s no surprise Porscheis very happy to have him in their midst, leading to the creation of this clip.
Written by Walter D. Wintle and dubbed “Patrick Dempsey: Poetry brought to the track”, it shows some of the racing highlights
Now that Dempsey no longer stars in Grey’s Anatomy, he’ll have even more time to devote to racing. Which should make him happy as he has already stated that racing had become just as important to him as acting.
