Following a ride taken in a classic Corvette with Jerry Seinfeld a few weeks ago, Barack Obama has just stopped at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, in his first ever visit to the event.

President Obama was accompanied by Paul Sabatini, 2016 NAIAS Chairman, and by Dennis Williams, UAW President, stopping at several exhibits that included Chevrolet, Ford, FCA and ZF.

NAIAS is honored to have President Obama visit our great city and our international show. His presence here underscores the importance of NAIAS and highlights the vehicles and technologies on display that made their world debut last week at Press Preview“, said Sabatini.

During his tour of the show, Barack Obama reviewed a sampling of autonomous vehicles on display and he didn’t forget to praise the local automotive industry: “I believe that every American should be proud of what our most iconic industry has done.”

Obama is just one of three U.S. Presidents to have visited the Detroit Auto Show, following Bill Clinton in 1999 and Dwight Eisenhower in 1960. However, over the years, there have been a lot of government officials who have attended the show.
