Famous tennis player and Kia global brand ambassador Rafael Nadal has presented the newest Kia X-Car in Melbourne, at the Australian Open.

Kia’s creation is a one-off based on the Sportage and it carries a unique design with a special textured matte and gloss blue finish, yellow bodywork highlights, and racing wheels and tires.

The vehicle is inspired after Mystique, the popular shape-shifting X-Men character, and it is the company’s second show car project in collaboration with Fox, after the Wolverine-inspired Sorento, presented last year, at the same event.

The X-Car will remain in Melbourne until the end of January, before it goes on  a world tour at various automotive events, in the run up to the new X-Men: Apocalypse movie, which will be released in May.

The 2016 Australian Open ceremony also featured the handover of 110 official courtesy vehicles to the Organizing Committee, including 52 Sorentos, 30 Carnivals and 28 Ceratos, which will be driven by approximately 225 trained volunteer drivers and will cover more than 300,000km (186,400miles) to transport players, officials, media representatives, VIPs and fans throughout the duration of the tournament.
