After explaining the drift modes of the hot hatch, Ben Collins is at it again, putting his money where his mouth is.
The former Top Gear Stig stepped behind the wheel in the Ford Focus RS to drive it fast on the track and prove that the tail-happy car has everything it needs to shred its rear tires.
The “Drift Mode” action of the newest hot hatch in the blue oval’s lineup was recorded on a closed track, in Valencia, Spain.
Equipped with the same engine as the Mustang EcoBoost, a 2.3-liter four-pot, the Ford Focus RS is capable of accelerating to 100km/h (62mph) in 4.7 seconds and all the way up to 266km/h (165mph). No less than 350PS (345hp) and 440Nm (324lb-ft) of torque are sent to the advanced all-wheel drive system, which allows the car to pull 1G during cornering.
While Ford’s marketing machine is working hard, production of the vehicle began earlier this month, at Germany’s Saarlouis facility and it will soon arrive with its owners, who have to pay £29,995 for the car, in Britain, while in the U.S., it is available from $35,730.
