Not long after Toyota confirmed that its youth-oriented US brand will be killed off, a recall has been issued for about 26,000 FR-S.
The affordable sports car is being called back to dealerships due to an issue with the automatic transmission key interlock.
On some 2013-2016 models, this necessary key interlock may not have been connected during pre-delivery and without the connection, the key can be removed from the ignition even if the car isn’t in Park.
This means it doesn’t comply with a required safety standard and increases the risk of a roll away and crash. To resolve the issue, Toyota will simply connect the automatic transmission key interlock.
No specific number of FR-S models affected has been publicized, with the automaker opting to notify affected owners via first class mail.
