The German brand, which was revived by its founder’s grandson after a 40-year hiatus, is preparing for the debut of its second model, the BX5 SUV.
Our spies caught the people’s during testing in Germany, with the prototype wrapped in the usual camouflage.
Borgward is aiming to offer a three-model lineup, all of them SUVs, with the recently-revealed BX7 sitting on top and the BX5 and BX3 models sitting under it. Our spies said that the size of the BX5 is much similar to a VW Tiguan.
The brand’s resurrection happened mainly due to Chinese investors Beiqi Foton Motor. It will initially focus on penetrating China and other emerging markets before making it to Europe sometime around 2018.
Just like the bigger BX7, the BX5 is rumored to be based on an existing platform from BAIC, which owns Foton.
Borgward is going to reveal a concept previewing the BX5 at the Geneva Motor Show.
