Not only does Chrysler’s new ‘Premium to the People’ marketing campaign feature two actors who used to be POTUS on TV, but one of them is even set to reprise that very same role.
The campaign is launching with two initial videos, one of which is a 60-second ad called “American-est”, while the other is called “Swerve” and lasts only 30 seconds.
As for the star power, there’s plenty of it, and we’re not just talking about the Chrysler 200 and 300 models. In one car we’ve got Martin Sheen acting out his role as President Josiah Bartlett from the acclaimed TV series ‘The West Wing’, whereas in the other vehicle is Bill Pullman playing the role of President Thomas J. Whitmore of Independence Day fame.
Pullman will star as President Whitmore yet again (though former President) this summer when ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ opens nationwide in theaters on June 24, 2016.
According to Olivier Francois, chief marketing officer for FCA Global, this campaign “conveys the state-of-the-art technology, key safety features, high-grade interiors and beautiful design while staying consistent with the Chrysler brand’s overarching message brought forward since ‘Imported from Detroit’.”
Francois also said that FCA is looking to “salute hard-working American men and women, and believe they have the right to drive a car they can feel proud to have in their driveway.”
As far as we can tell, the dialogue in these two ads does seem a bit forced at times, though it’s great to see two iconic characters reprise their roles while looking to give Chrysler a helping hand.
