Just a few days after being revealed, the very first 2016 Callaway Camaro SC610 was involved in a crash in the staging lines of California’s Auto Club Dragway.
According to eyewitnesses, the crash occurred after a 1932 Ford drag car was weaving through the staging lanes. The door of the classic Ford is said to have swung open and made contact with a Ford Mustang racer, promoting the ’32 owner to panic and hit the accelerator rather than the brake.
By doing so, the ’32 Ford speared into the all-new Callaway Camaro as well as another Mustang.
LSXTV says that the impact with the Camaro was so severe that it lifted up the car’s rear wheels and completely wrecked the SC610’s rear bumper.
Despite all the carnage, none of the drivers were injured in the crash nor were any bystanders. Additionally, all cars involved appear repairable.
