An allegedly official Volvo tweet that was hastily deleted last night, but not before one of our readers took a quick shot, suggests that the Swedes might reveal a new C90 Convertible, possibly in Geneva.
The message that was re-tweeted on an unofficial Volvo truck page, read: “NOW, THIS IS FREEDOM. THE ALL-NEW C90”. We can’t make out the rest of the text that follows, nor can we vouch for the authenticity of the tweet, so take what you see with a few grains of salt.
Volvo officials had recently told journalists that their new ‘90’ series could spawn a two-door model influenced by the much praised Coupe Concept from the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and based on the flexible SPA platform that currently underpins the new S90 sedan, V90 estate and XC90 SUV.
It could be that the pictured car is a coupe-convertible style model with a retractable hardtop like the C70 that went out of production back in 2013.
With less than 24 hours left for the Geneva Motor Show, it shouldn’t be long before we find out if there’s any truth to this story.
