Earlier today, BMW unwrapped the new M760Li xDrive, its first M Performance 7-Series, but there’s a twist in this introduction and it’s called the ‘Excellence’.
Let us ask you; what are the first things you think about when talking about an M Performance-branded model – M tweaked engine, chassis and looks, not on the same level as pure M models, but in-bewteen them and the regular lineup, right?
Well, beyond the standard M760Li xDrive, which has all those, albeit the last two in more discrete amounts than what we’re accustomed to, BMW is offering buyers the no-cost Excellence option that completely eradicates the ‘M’ cosmetic touches.
We’re talking everything from the ‘M’ badges and even the ‘M760Li xDrive’ emblem at the back, which is replaced with a simple ‘V12’ logo, to the ‘M’ aerodynamic kit, trims and wheels on the outside, and the ‘M’ sport steering, speedometer and accents on the inside! Instead, it gets BMW Individual touches on both the exterior and interior.
It does keep the 600PS (592hp) twin-turbo V12, 19-inch brakes and Executive Drive Pro adaptive suspension of the regular model, but depending on how you see it, it’s either trying to be inconspicuous, ashamed to look like an M Performance car, or perhaps BMW just got lazy and didn’t want to bother creating and detuning a 760Li xDrive…
