Lincoln is moving forward with their Matthew McConaughey-based ad campaigns, this time putting the award-winning actor inside the 2016 Navigator.
The ad, called ‘Time to Eat’, sees McConaughey playing the alpha dog role in a completely different way than what we’re used to seeing from him.
Behind the camera is Academy Award-nominated director Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting), who also worked on some TV spots for Lincoln, except that was for the all-new MKX.
For McConaughey, driving the Navigator seems to be quite a departure from his previous roles behind the wheel of the MKZ, MKC and MKX. On top of that, he’s no longer talking to himself (or the audience), since now he’s got a couple of four-legged passengers to keep him company.
The Hollywood star went on record to say that “Lincoln and I wanted the new ad to be more lighthearted and fun, so when they pitched the “driving with dogs” idea I was in. People love their dogs, I’ve got three myself, and yes, I, like most of you, even talk to them,” though we’d imagine that he does it with less of an inspirational tone.
One of Lincoln’s goals regarding this video was to show off the Navigator as being protective, with a warm and inviting interior where you can fit your entire family, including pets.
