You can’t be India’s largest automaker and be absent from the increasingly popular and lucrative small SUV class, so Maruti-Suzuki crafted the new Vitara Brezza that was revealed today at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016.
Positioned against the likes of the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300 in the Indian market, the new Vitara Brezza looks more akin to a taller-bodied and –riding hatchback than an outright SUV, with a rather unispired / forgettable design both inside and out.
Developed in India, the 3,995mm (157.2 in.) long, 1,790 mm (70.5 in.) wide and 1,640mm (64.6 in.) model rides on a 2,500mm (98.4 in.) wheelbase offering a respectable boot space of 328-liters.
Reports from India say that it will initially launch in the coming months with Maruti-Suzuki’s familiar 90PS (89hp) 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel coupled to a five-speed manual transmission, with petrol engines to likely be added down the road.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza highlights:* Engine – 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine
* Power – 90 PS @ 4000 RPM
* Torque – 200 Nm @ 1750 RPM
* Length x Width x Height (in mm) – 3995 x 1790 x 1640
* Boot space – 328 litres
* Ground Clearance – 198 mm
