SEAT took the wraps off its 2016 Leon racer, continuing its intense and long standing commitment to motorsport.
The new racing season will once again see the SEAT Leon Eurocup on some of the most fascinating racetracks in six European countries, and at the starting grid will be the Spanish car maker’s Leon Cup Racer – a top-flight machine (as SEAT describes it) with 330 PS on tap and filled to the brim with technology.
The company says that more than 100 of these racing cars are now used by teams from 22 countries in a wide array of racing series, including the new TCR international series. Not only that, but the Cup Racer will be continuously developed in many details throughout the season – thus ensuring for a more captivating motorsport experience.
The improved, second variant of the SEAT Leon Cup Racer TCR, will sport a sequential gearbox (instead of the DSG variant), as it’s equipped and optimized for endurance racing, as Dr. Matthias Rabe, Vice President of SEAT S.A. for Research and Development mentions:
“Customer sport is incredibly important to us. The CUP RACER has been an exceptionally high-performance and successful race car from day one. Nevertheless, we have systematically developed it for this season to make it even faster. And with the TCR version, we are now also offering a vehicle optimised for endurance racing.”
“We are looking forward to the new season. Seeing and hearing the enthusiastic SEAT fans at the track is always a fantastic experience. And we will once again be offering them some amazing and thrilling racing”, he concluded.
This racing machine can be ordered form SEAT Sport in DSG guise for €85,000 ($94,680), or with the TCR sequential form for €110,000 ($122,557).
