International GT racing is shaping up to become even more exciting following an announcement that the potent Radical RXC Turbo 500 has been approved for GT3 competition.
The race-spec car is simply dubbed the Radical RXC Turbo. According to Piston Heads, it is eligible for the International GT Open, Endurance Racing Series, the Supercar Challenge, Radical European Masters and the NARRA USA GT series. Moreover, in the coming weeks is will probably be given the go-ahead to compete in an even bigger number of other series.
The race car remains very similar to the road-going model. It uses the same twin-turbo Ford EcoBoost engine delivering over 500 hp, but will be restricted due to the Balance of Performance GT3-class regulations.
Mated to this powerplant is a seven-speed Quaife transmission with straight-cut gears driving the rear Dunlop SP Sport slick or wet weather tires. Straight from the factory, the GT3-spec RXC Turbo also includes pushrod suspension with four-way adjustable dampers from Intrax, a 100-liter fuel cell and an FIA-compliant HANS seat.
Privateers will have to shell out at least €197,400 for and a bit more if they want also be optioned with air conditioning, a carbon fiber body detail kit, Radical-branded race suit and a reversing camera.
