Introduced at Auto Expo 2016 as concepts, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Baleno RS preview the production models that will soon be launched in India.
Displaying restyled design cues that underline their sporty character, they are all but ready to enter production – something that will happen during the festive season.
Concept Ignis – which is actually a subtly visually-tweaked Ignis – is described as dynamic and appealing due to its bold and unconventional design, looking strikingly similar to the chunkier Ignis Trail Concept. It features a high ground clearance reminiscent of the iM-4 concept and will apparently become one of the most affordable crossovers in the country.
The Baleno RS is the sporty variant of the regular hatchback with the same name. It is powered by a 1.0-litre, directly injected and turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine with 112 hp and 175 Nm of torque. A new body-kit emphasizes the Baleno’s newly acquired sporty character, sporting new, aggressive bumpers, while the interior was garnished with piano black trims, front sport seats and aluminum pedals.
