Leaving the “boxy” concept of old Volvo estates behind, the new V90 builds on the new styling trends of the brand.
Unveiled yesterday, the V90, the wagon is not only more modern but it also has what Volvo claims to be the most advanced standard safety package on the market.
Just like its sedan sibling, the V90 has large animal detection, run-off road mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, semi-autonomous driving technology under the Pilot Assist banner that helps the driver stay within the lane at speeds up to 50km/h (31mph) and keep a pre-selected distance from the car in front.
The list of features is long and it includes IntelliSafe Surround Package, with Rear Collision Warning, BLIS, 360-degree camera, Park Assist Pilot, Cross Traffic Alert, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay, panoramic roof, climate control, premium sound system and other goodies that will be appreciated by prospective buyers.
The V90 comes with five powertrains: two petrol, two diesels and a T8 hybrid, which churns out 404hp, providing a full-electric range of around 50km (31miles). Full details on the will be released at the Geneva Show, on March 1, where the car is scheduled to make its world premiere.
