The new Audi Q2 will only be the beginning of the VW Group’s assault on the small SUV segment, with the VW brand preparing its own model that is being previewed at the Geneva Motor Show by the T-Cross Breeze concept.
We’re still waiting for VW to release details on the convertible study that features a fabric soft top, but earlier information suggests that it’s based on the next generation Polo subcompact’s MQB platform and running gear.
The production version, which should come in a conventional five-door body style, will be a sister model to VW’s upcoming and larger Golf-based T-Roc sports crossover, sitting under the existing Tiguan.
It should be offered with VW’s usual array of gasoline, diesel and possibly, plug-in gasoline-electric hybrid drivetrains, together with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options, rivaling the Nissan Juke, Mazda CX-3. Honda HR-V and Toyota’s new C-HR that’s making its production debut at the Swiss show this week.
We should have more on the T-Cross Breeze Concept in the coming hours, so stay tuned.
Thanks to A. and Bruno for the tip!
