Sports saloon fans in Australia will be disappointed to see the Falcon nameplate put to rest in October after 56 years.
In what can be described as a farewell, Ford announced the limited run XR6 and XR8 Sprint last month that will potentially the fastest Falcons ever.
This render by Nikk||Digi-Kustoms shows an alternate route the Blue Oval could have chosen. Ford currently sells a 2.0-litre Ecoboost powered Falcon in Australia that’s reducing weight over the front axle by 54 kg, for a 54:47 weight distribution, compared to 56:44 for the inline-six.
This hypothetical Falcon RS swaps out its 2.0-litre, 240hp (179kW) Ecoboost for the angrier 345hp (257kW), 440Nm (324lb ft), 2.3-litre unit of the Focus RS.
Although the donor car was only ever mated to a six-speed automatic, that is not part of this vision. Mustang’s six-speed manual cogbox is in play here, corralling those bloodthirsty ponies into a limited-slip differential.
Customers will have to do with the XR6 and XR8 Sprint instead, which push out 435hp and 462hp respectively and have all the chassis tuning and the stickiest Pirelli P-Zeros they could throw at it.
