While Cadillac’s SRX’s replacement, the new XT5, is getting ready to hit dealerships across the States next month, the company’s officials are apparently working on a second addition to its engine lineup.
This will reportedly be a 2.0-liter turbo four-pot, with an estimated 258 HP, aimed towards the Chinese market, but if AutoNews‘ info turns out to be accurate, then we might expect the same mill in the U.S. lineup too.
“I actually think we could do well to consider that for the U.S.“, commented the brand’s boss, Johan de Nysschen, during the crossover’s media drive.
The 2.0-liter unit is already offered in the Cadillac ATS Coupe and Sedan, in the CTS Sedan and in the RWD CT6. Adding it to the XT5 range will lower the vehicle’s price from the current $38,995, in front-wheel drive form.
In the United States, the only engine offered at launch on the Cadillac XT5, is the 3.6-liter V6, used on the ATS, CTS and CT6 as well. It produces 310 HP and 270 lb-ft (366 Nm) of torque and it is connected to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
