Cenntro Automotive, a US-based designer and manufacturer of electric vehicles with operations in Europe and China, will present the Metro at the 2016 New York Auto Show.
The weird-looking commercial model is said to be the first EV to use a modular concept and promises a choice from several different configurations that include an open truck bed and van box, with either one or two doors.
“The Metro is a great vehicle for all types of business. It has many functions, including hauling, recycling, landscaping, and delivery. With an affordable price and low cost of ownership, it provides great value“, commented Cenntro Automotive’s CEO, Peter Wang.
It uses an electric motor and battery that allow a range of up to 75 miles (120 km) and a top speed of up to 25 mph (40 km/h). The vehicle’s payload is 1,400 pounds (635 kg).
Cenntro Automotive didn’t have anything else to say about the Metro, except that it is the first vehicle in its class to be produced in the States. Full details will be announced at the New York, show that opens its gates for the media on Wednesday, March 23.
