After his carsickness problems and being called a “control freak” by a producer who resigned, Chris Evans, the man in charge of the new Top Gear, has come under fire by British media for not being able to devote more time to the show.
The 49-year old presenter revealed that he spends just four hours a day working on the Top Gear set, as he arrives at the studios at 10am and always leaves at 2pm “on the dot“, as TheSun reports, to pick up his children.
In his defense, the 49-year old told TopGear Magazine that he gets up at 4.45am each morning to arrive in time for his radio show, which is broadcasted between 6.30am and 9.30am: “I’m useless after 2pm. I’m fried“, Evans said.
Rumor has it that Evans struck a 3-year arrangement, worth £3 million ($4.2 million), to be the lead Top Gear presenter, but his deal was attacked recently by Jonathan Isaby, from the TaxPayers’ Alliance, who said that license fee payers “might appreciate a little more humility from the celebs whose sky-high salaries they pay.“
The radio DJ is joined by a team of 5 co-presenters, comprising Matt LeBlanc, Sabine Schmitz, Chris Evans Harris, Eddie Jordan and Rory Reid. The revamped show is due to air from May in a new format and with 6 episodes, two less than originally announced, as filming is apparently behind schedule.
