The Black Series variant of the company’s current sports car is still a few years away, meanwhile though the AMG GT and AMG GT S will get new versions.
In fact, Mercedes is currently working on the development of a hardcore model, probably dubbed the AMG GT-R.
No one outside Mercedes-AMG knows details, but a prototype was captured on video high-revving and fast cornering on the Nurburgring.
Setting it apart from the existing sports cars will be a more aggressive body kit and a massive rear wing joined by lightweight materials, a modified suspension and new alloy wheels covering the larger brakes.
The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that puts out 510 PS (503 HP) in the AMG GT S, is going to be updated to around 550 PS (542 HP), improving the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time from 3.8 seconds by a few tens of a second.
An exact launch date for the new Mercedes-AMG GT-R is not known at this point, but its debu is expected this summer.
