After officially revealing the development mule for their first SUV, Rolls Royce was caught testing a mule in the cold weather of Sweden.
The mule itself uses a shortened body of the Phantom Series II and its main purpose is to develop the new all-wheel drive suspension system for the final production model.
As you would expect, Rolls Royce wants to transfer the ‘magic carpet’ ride into their future crossover model, not only on road but off-road too. The prototype mule uses the first version of this suspension setup and is going to assist the company’s engineers in developing the final all-wheel drive system.
Remember, this is just a mule used for developing the company’s new lightweight chassis, with the familiar body to have nothing in common with the production model. Don’t expect any surprises though as the first Rolls Royce off-roader will stay true to the Spirit Of Ecstasy’s …spirit.
The new Rolls Royce is expected to arrive in the market in late 2018 with only one engine available, the classic V12 which will be producing more than 600hp.
