Previewing a possible future direction for the next SsangYong midsize SUV, the SIV-2 made its world debut in Geneva.
The study is an evolution of the SIV-1, showcased at the same event two years ago, designed under the brand’s new “Dynamic Motion” styling language, which is characterized by more prominent lines on the body.
Inside you’ll find a mix of Alcantara, wood and aluminum, with the Korean company boasting about mounting speakers within the bucket seats for an improved surround-sound experience and the use of “cutting-edge IT devices connecting with the latest technology available“.
SsangYong claims that the SIV-2, which is 4,440 mm long, 1,855 mm wide and 1,640 mm tall, riding on a 2,675 mm long wheelbase, has the necessary features to be further developed to create alternative models with powertrains such as HEV, PHEV and EV.
In Geneva, it was fitted with a 1.5-liter direct-injected, turbocharged petrol engine, combined with a 10kW electric motor-generator that takes its juice from a 500Wh lithium-ion battery.
