The most brilliant ideas are often the simple ones as the classic Lotus Super Seven demonstrates.
It doesn’t get much more basic: the Lotus Super Seven is the elemental sports car, an attack of the senses which doesn’t care about power figures, focusing just on how big the smile of the driver will be after each ride.
The kit car nature of the concept means that people who bought them used to customize them with ease, bringing them to their exact specifications, whether they wanted to race them or just drive them on the road.
Geoff Wise belongs to the latter category and explains what the Lotus Super Seven means to him in the latest Petrolicious video.
“There’s a certain demand for a driver’s car that optimizes handling weight, exposure to the elements, and that very visceral experience that sort of makes you have to take a shower after driving it—for all the right reasons—you’ve got rocks in your hair and everything else.”
Some people prefer motorcycles for the same reasons; others just go out and buy one of these. The want is strong.
