Following the ballistic protection added to Police Interceptors and the new “visor light bar“, Ford has rolled out the new F-150 for law enforcement agencies.
The blue oval’s pickup truck is offered to government and fleet customers, including law enforcement and roadside assistance providers, allowing customers to pick from the SuperCrew or SuperCab configurations, both in the XL trim, available in 2WD or 4WD, with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost or a 5.0-liter V8 engine.
Changes performed to the 2016 Ford F-150 Special Service Vehicle continue inside, where the carpeting has been replaced with easy-to-clean vinyl flooring and the rear seat has been swapped for a vinyl bench, with more quick cleanup in mind. Moreover, the standard 40/20/40 seats have been swapped for 40/blank/40 seats, as the rear section creates more space for customization.
“Many officers need the extra space F-150 Special Service Vehicle offers. They can load the cargo box with equipment and still fit five people inside. Its utility is unmatched“, said Ford Police Marketing Manager, Stephen Tyler.
On top of these upgrades, Ford has added a high-output 240-am alternator, which replaces the stock unit and allows for extended idle times.
Ford’s new F-150 for law enforcement use joins the family of vehicles that include Expedition Special Service Vehicle, Special Service Police Sedan, Transit Prisoner Transport Vehicle, Police Interceptor Sedan and Police Interceptor Utility.
