Development of the GLC family will continue beyond the recently unveiled GLC 43, as Mercedes-Benz is getting ready to introduce a new range-topper, the GLC 63 AMG.

The high-performance SUV was recently scooped out in the open, revealing its rumble in a short acceleration burst where it put its 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine to the test.

It uses the same powertrain as the C 63 AMG and E 63 AMG, which was first introduced on the AMG GT. While on the AMG GT S it is rated at 570 HP, the E 63 AMG will be more powerful producing up to 612 horsepower in the top of the line “S” guise.

The E63 AMG’s hardware is believed to be adopted by the GLC 63 AMG too, making it the most potent model in the range and even if it is too early to talk about performance, it will be significantly faster over the GLC 43, which needs 4.8 seconds to go from naught to sixty, topping out at 155 mph (250 km/h).

Even though the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 looks ready, it won’t be presented until early next year.
