Tesla wants to convince its customers that going for the Autopilot feature is a good idea ,by offering it as a 30-day trial through an update.
Even though the Autopilot option was introduced last year along with the 7.0 firmware update that was available on every Tesla made since late 2014, some customers did not install the autonomous tech for different reasons.
In an image distributed by a Reddit user, a message reading “try Autopilot Convenience Features and experience a stress-free commute” can be seen on a Model S dashboard.
It also states that the free trial enables automatic steering, speed, lane changing and parking with Summon.
Thanks to an innovative update , owners can retroactively opt for the feature if they didn’t get it in the first place, although the “downloadable content” requires an additional $500 over the standard price. The latter, which is added to the $2,500 option, is probably the least important, given the Model S quite hefty price tag.
Perhaps they’ll agree it is useful after all – and find the Mario Kart Easter egg amusing.
