Revealed at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, the Lincoln Continental has proven to be a hit with the public, as the automaker says it already has a list with 40,000 people who have expressed interest in buying the luxurious sedan.
Granted, it might not have reached the staggering 276,000 pre-orders – within the first three days of its official presentation – as Tesla’s Model 3 did, but this figure can promise a success for Ford’s luxury brand. According to Automotive News, brand executives said they plan to start working with dealers soon, in order to turn those leads into reservations.
Making a return this fall after a 15-year absence, the Continental will be produced at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan, and Matt VanDyke, director of global Lincoln, said the list of people interested in the upcoming vehicle (who actually provided their name and contact information for a follow-up) is double compared of that of the MKX crossover.
So, it seems that there’s a lot of interest gravitating around Lincoln’s product, many dealers saying the excitement surrounding the Continental exceeds anything the American car maker experienced in many years.
“People are asking a lot of questions about the car. This is the most buzz I’ve seen in a long, long time,” said Dan Marks, chairman of the Lincoln National Dealer Council.
