The first video of the ridiculously fast Audi TT RS is here, and yes, it sounds like a proper angry beast.

The German company finally showed us the latest and fastest iteration (yet) of the Audi TT in Beijing, with the official reveal of the new TT RS. Available both in coupe and roadster forms, the TT RS packs 395hp (400PS) from its revised turbo 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine, with power going traditionally to all four wheels via an exclusive seven-speed double-clutch gearbox.

The result is an Audi TT than can catapult itself to 62mph (0-100km/h) in less than 4 seconds, with the Coupe managing a breath-taking 3.7 seconds and the slightly heavier Roadster demanding 0.2 of a second more.

The car now sits 10mm lower than its slower brothers, with Audi offering the option of adaptive dampers with magnetic ride technology. Standard cars come with 19in wheels and 420mm disc brakes while the options list includes 20in wheels and carbon-fiber brakes for those willing to pay for them.

Audi’s five-pot engine has been long-praised for its sound and the way it produces its immense power, making every model lucky enough to use it essentially a Porsche-hunting machine.

The first video of the new TT RS shows us both the Coupe and its open-top variant accompanied by the very familiar and aggressive five-cylinder growl of the 2.5-litre unit. Should the engine find a match in the Audi TT’s chassis, Porsche will have every reason to worry about.
